Second Screen Experiences | Executive Producer
Clients: Universal Studios, Paramount Studios
Roles: Executive Producer | Creative Director
• Developed ideas and long-term strategy for a mobile app that would interact with commercial Blu-ray discs over a local area network.
• Pioneered a mobile app prototype that displayed an interactive timeline, and surfaced on screen actor and music metadata.
• Sold app to Universal and Paramount; integrated Digital Copy fulfillment; The app has generated over 6 million within a three year period.
• Oversaw UI/UX and development across a multi-screen rollout.
As part of developing a strategy for pushing Blu-ray as a format, Zev concepted and produced the following mobile prototypes that lead to the second screen app described above:
• An interactive Batpod from The Dark Knight where the user can explore a 3D model on their mobile app and trigger pop up schematics and hidden experiences on a full screen version displayed via the Blu-ray disc.
• A Harry Potter themed 'Wand Class' where the 'wand' was represented by the mobile device and the classroom appeared full screen on the monitor. The user had to learn spells which involved replicating a wand movement sensed by the mobile device's accelerometer. Successfully 'casting the spell' (i.e. replicating the correct movement) would trigger motion clips that made it appear you had cast a spell.
This tech was used to sell in a series of experiences for Fast & Furious where fans were able to unlock and explore 3D versions of the cars used in the film.
